(10/21/2004) Wet Paint!

Here are some snapshots of our double cab while receiving a fresh coat of Velvet Green!

The truck bed received a chip-proof coating before being sprayed.

(11/21/2004) Bodywork, Preparation

All doors and gates were hung and double-checked for proper fit.  Dry sanding has begun, and after a second coat of primer, the truck will be wet-sanded.

(10/21/2004) Beginning Bodywork, Restoring Suspension:

The Double Cab is now in high build primer, and will be left to cure for up to several weeks.  This ensures a finish that is not likely to shrink or change over time. Most body shops will skip this step, but our customers have reported a flawless finish after many years! A little extra care during this step is a great value. Many hours will be spent wet sanding, and a second coat of primer may be applied, if necessary.

(10/20/2004) Beginning Bodywork, Restoring Suspension:

After initial hammering and panel straightening, our double cab now sports a fresh coat of durable over-metal primer. All seams have been sealed, and doors are installed to ensure a correct fit. The entire body shell is cleaned, masked, and prepped for the next step: a layer of high-build primers!

Since the bus will be converted to 12 volts, a 1967 Transaxle was selected for this job. Every one of our restorations receives a new one, without exception. The front beam has been sandblasted and restored to original. New suspension parts are a must, and the steering box will also be rebuilt to original specs.

Build quality and drivability are a top priority!

(9/1/2004) The Next Step:

After finishing the metal repair, our Double cab was taken outside one more time for media blasting.

(8/25/2004) Not for the faint of heart!

This truck received a full treatment of all new frame members, cable, heat, and shift tubes, jack supports, floors, rockers, and other panels. Our "metal crew" estimates over 300 hours of cutting, welding, grinding, and massaging. This was a very ambitious project, and not normally one we'd take on, but we couldn't resist the challenge-Below are a few snapshots taken during floor installation.  The end result will speak for itself- Like new... Wow!
